THIS OLD HOUSE CLASSICS is the off-public television version of This Old House, one of the highest-rated weekly series on PBS, celebrating its 25th year on television in the 2004-2005 season. With monthly viewership of more than 18 million reaching over 98% of all U.S. households), the award-winning This Old House series has entertained, educated and inspired homeowners for 25 seasons...and is still going strong. It’s no wonder the show is so popular. Over the last five years, consumer spending on home improvement and home-based activities has increased by 34% to $453 billon. Nearly a million homes each year receive major improvement modifications, according to The Harvard Joint Center for Housing Studies. Celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2004, This Old House is the leading media authority on home improvement and renovation. It is also the basis for This Old House magazine. With an eye towards demystifying the home improvement process, each issue of the ten-times-yearly title features a balance of inspiring design stories and detailed renovation and remodeling instruction. Online, www.thisoldhouse.com was launched in April 2002 and receives an average of 700,000 unique visitors monthly and 3.5 million page views. Each THIS OLD HOUSE CLASSICS series of episodes follows the planning and details the techniques and materials required for a high-quality home renovation. The viewer watches as Thomas and Abram consult with experts, including three regulars: general contractor, Tom Silva, plumbing and heating expert, Richard Trethewey, and lawn & garden expert, Roger Cook. Russell Morash, the series’ creator, serves as creative director & founder. This Old House has won 16 Emmy Awards including Best Direction, Best Electronic Camera Work, Best Service Series and Best Local Series. |
